Good morning and happy Monday! If this is your first time here, welcome! This weekly blog post highlights some of the terrific writing posted on Vocal Media over the past week. If you’re already subscribed, thank you very much, and if not, please consider doing so! Without further ado, here is my picked poem and the stories for the week of September 29 through October 5.
The Poem: Fear by Kelli Sheckler-Amsden
Kelli is a fantastic poet and a wonderful writer. This powerful and relatable piece is essentially about telling that nagging voice in your head, the one that says you’re never good enough, to get lost. Each line pulls at one of the primary senses in a way that makes you nod in agreement. Be sure to give this beautiful poem a read and check out her other poems, too.
Interview: Center Stage with Kelli Sheckler-Amsden by Heather Hubler
This one is for people already on Vocal media or fans of Kelli’s work. Since I mentioned Kelli’s beautiful poetry, I thought I’d also talk about another fantastic poet, Heather Hubler. Not only does she write gorgeous poems, but she also manages to find time to interview other vocal writers, like Kelli. I love reading blogs about my favorite authors, and Heather does not disappoint with this one. Check it out, and while you’re there, be sure to read some of her poems as well, they are excellent.
A Horror Story: Bleed by Mike Singleton
October is my favorite month, especially for scares, so I issued a little challenge on Vocal Media to write some good horror stories for me, and Mike rose to the challenge. The man in this tale should have played by the rules and gets a nasty surprise when he doesn’t. Be forewarned: After reading this, you may want to give up drinking forever! Be sure to look this one up and enjoy the cringe!
A Vocal Top Story: Incense and Iron by Matthew Fromm
Oh man, this horrific tale definitely deserved the top-story nod from Vocal Media. Gothic lovers everywhere need to give this one a read. It takes place in an old castle keep, and features a knight, a full moon, and fanged monsters. If you love horror the way I do, then you will not want to miss this hair-raising story!
Loved these highlights for the week!! So glad Kelli is getting celebrated here too :) Thank you for including the interview!
